Technology VS Design FODR attract me the most at beginning, learning about new things all the time, software and graphic art are cool. Then moving to Digital Design, I am interest in GH and parametric design, start to know digital aspect and metaverse, I enjoy the pavilion I created in Digital Design. GH is cool ,it can achieve more than normal design especially on futurism style. Based on history class, I learnt about the archigram、 futurism and metabolism, these are based on industrial revolution, which is a kind of technology driven design style. The idea and the form really attract me and I feels like I can use GH to achieve those cool architecture. But unfortunately, architecture is an very down to earth subject and that makes me very struggle, those experience makes me realize I’m not an very realistic person, I’m abstract which is not architecture is.
Idea VS Reality From the subject Alchemy to later CA and CD, as well as my garden design and intern, I start to understand the relationship between what we think and what we build is different, I start to understand how to achieve those ideas in a rational way. In Alchemy I know that materials can create pattern, on the aesthetic aspects of architecture. During pandemic I get to know the materials and how to use then. In CA I start to know the building manufacturing and assembly principles to diverse small to medium-scale construction projects. And I get to know the relationship and the distance between building conception and building implementation. This stage my mind start to change, cause the design start to going another way, not just the software and aesthetic, but an very realistic approach. I was shocked and start to getting tired cause this is not the architecture I thought before.
Arts and aesthetic But from the other point of view, design subject gives me the good appreciation on aesthetic, from the first FODR I start to get in touch with composition and portfolio, start to know the gallery. Later I’m start to interest in arts like installation and cloth style, these built from design is connected to every part of my life, based on architecture aesthetics, I’m interested in geometrical and graphic style, deconstructivism. Since I already learnt the adobe software, I was interested in PS and I learnt it deeply in 3 month, I did freelancer and designed logo before, those experience is not architecture but it came from and related to architecture.
